Shadows of Doubt

Shadows of Doubt (ColePowered Games, Fireshine Games; full release 2024) is a detective simulation in a procedurally generated city. You gather evidence, break into apartments, hack security systems and track down suspects. Its developer calls it "a detective stealth game", so expect stealth and risk as well as deduction.

Best for: players who want an open-ended investigation with no fixed script.

Is there an upcoming game that makes you feel like an interrogator?

Murder Book: The Art of Interrogation is an upcoming narrative interrogation game from Gungrounds, an independent studio in Zagreb, Croatia. It focuses on one part of a detective's job that many games simplify: the interview. Inspired by real police footage and psychological interviews, it asks you to examine unreliable stories, behavioural changes, narrative gaps, avoidance and contradictions. Development screenshots show an evidence board for linking statements and a menu of techniques, including Build Trust, Bluffing and Confrontation. Behaviour is something to interpret, not proof on its own, and development materials show a case select screen that includes a "not guilty" result.
